Contributions to cooperation within BRICS
In September 2024, Skoltech hosted the first international workshop, “Sustainability of BRICS: University-Industry Partnerships.” In June 2024, a BRICS working group on biotechnologies and biomedicine, including human health and neurosciences, met at Skoltech. In October 2024, Skoltech Neuro hosted the second BRICS Neuroscience Symposium.

In September 2024, Skoltech and Nanjing University announced the establishment of a Joint International Research Center for STEM. The new center has already launched four research projects under the joint program.

Russia-Serbia: Women in Science
and Technology Entrepreneurship
Skoltech organized discussions at the fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum focusing on science, technology, and the environmental agenda. The event was curated by the Federation Council of Russia. The highlight of the forum was an international teleconference titled “Russia-Serbia: Women in Science and Technology Entrepreneurship.”
In November 2024, Skoltech held a strategic session titled “Artificial Intelligence in Economy, Industry, and Public Administration” in Bishkek. The event, which marked the launch of the “Point of Attraction: Bishkek” project, was attended by the heads of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Presidential Administration and the leading universities of Kyrgyzstan, as well as representatives of the republic’s professional communities.
AI in economy, industry and public administration: A strategic session in Bishkek
In January 2024, a Skoltech delegation led by President Alexander Kuleshov visited the University of Sharjah (UoS) in the United Arab Emirates. Professor Hamid Al-Naimiy, the UoS chancellor, noted that the visit from Skoltech, a leading research university, marked a significant milestone in global cooperation and the advancement of research endeavors. The highlight of the visit was the inauguration of the Biomedically-Informed Artificial Intelligence (BIMAI) Laboratory, a joint effort between Skoltech and UoS to advance research, education, and innovation. The laboratory will be a focal point for addressing medical challenges and shaping the future of health care in Russia and the UAE. In October 2024, a UoS delegation led by Professor Hamid Al-Naimiy paid a return visit to Skoltech. The delegation included Professor Maamar Bettayeb, the vice chancellor for research and graduate studies, and Professor Rifat Hamoudi, who co-directs BIMAI-Lab. The delegates toured the Skoltech centers and visited the Russian site of the BIMAI-Lab at Skoltech, which opened in October 2023. The lab’s co-director, Assistant Professor Maxim Sharaev from Skoltech AI, presented its ongoing research projects and future plans, including research, patents, commercialization, startups, and international collaboration.
